LOCATED in the picturesque village of Boothbay Harbor on the inner harbor, the Blue Heron Seaside Inn was built in the 1880's, originaly as a waterfront home, convenient to the town center and with access to the harbor for boating activies.
YOUR HOSTS, Laura and Phil Chapman, are natives of Boothbay whose families have lived here for five generations. They purchased the property in 1994, while working overseas, and in 2001, after moving back home, decided to restore the building into a boutique inn and share the wonderful location, views and their stories with travelers. They completely gutted the building down to the studs, leaving the original footprint. The renovation included modern updated technology, new wiring and plumbing, insulation between all the floors and walls for sound reduction, and new Anderson windows and doors throughout. Skilled local craftsmen completed the project with detailed woodworking, and ceiling crown moldings, capturing the timless elegance of 'Old New England', while offering all the modern necessities for a comfortable stay. After two years, in 2003, Blue Heron Seaside Inn opened it's doors to welcome it's first guests.
THE DÉCOR is influenced by the innkeepers' travels overseas. The unique collection of period antiques and fine china they collected while living in Europe and Asia is an important part of the ambience of the inn, reflecting that of a refined European flavor.
THE IDEAL in-town location allows you to leave your vehicle and stroll to the village center for boat trips, shopping, and fine dining, all just steps away. Take a kayak for a tour of the harbor. Or you may simply enjoy lounging by the waterfront, on the quiet secluded cove, watching the seabirds on the shore, while enjoying the view of Boothbay Harbor's historic footbridge in the background. A favorite spot for artists and kayak enthusiasts!
Note: Kayaking is available every day at different times, depending upon the tide.
